We are seeking a Technical Trainer to fill an exciting role within Dublin Aerospace. The Technical Trainer is responsible for all aspects of technical training from design to delivery of training programs. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to shape our learning culture within the extremely fast paced and highly regulated industry we operate in.

The purpose of the Technical Trainer with DAL is:

  • improving quality of work: Technical Training helps improve the quality of work produced by employees. Technical Training programs concentrate on specific requirements within the maintenance environment which meet both our regulatory and business requirements.
  • Enhance employee growth: Every employee who attends a training course becomes better at their job. Training provides instruction to help improve the knowledge and skills of our maintenance teams, therefore facilitating professional and technical development.
  • Prevents obsolescence: Through training, the employee is brought up to date with new technology and approaches to maintenance tasks.
  • Assisting new joiners, apprentices and Trainees: Technical Training provides assistance and guidance to new joiners, apprentices and trainees to help them become accustomed to a new work environment, new technology and the work culture of the company.
  • Bridging the gap between planning and implementation: Training will provide an understanding of the planning process, the computer systems, the company procedures and the quality and compliance requirements within Dublin Aerospace.  Training helps in improving accuracy and perfection within the work environment.
  • Health and safety measures: Health and safety training will be provided on an on-going basis to ensure all staff can carry out their daily tasks in a safe work environment. Dublin Aerospace has a strong safety record and this is maintained through the provision of focused safety training.
  • Legal and Industry regulatory compliance: Technical training will provide all regulatory training including the company policies and procedures which apply to employees on a day-to-day basis. The presence of effective and robust compliance training educates the employees on operating procedures and philosophies of Dublin Aerospace and instructs on ethical and legal issues that must be adhered to.  The adherence to the company’s policies and procedures and regulations are not limited to personal responsibilities but to also disclose the unethical or unsafe behavior of others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a Dublin Aerospace Technical Training needs analysis and maintain this up to date.
  • Prepare a Comprehensive technical training Plan for Dublin Aerospace in accordance with the business needs, industry compliance, technical requirements and employee technical development in an appropriate and timely manner. 
  • Implement and deliver the approved and agreed Training Plan in a timely manner.
  • Develop, implement and manage e-learning training as an effective and efficient solution to deliver training.
  • Ensure accurate training records are maintaining and updated in accordance with business requirements and to maintain compliance.
  • Liaise with external bodies and internal stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Manage the training budget to achieve maximum return on investment and expenditure.
  • External & Internal reporting as appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with Data Privacy and Protection Guideline

Core Competencies:

  1. Communication - to communicate well, using many different formats including the ability to deliver ILT.
  2. Expertise - A successful Technical Trainer will have industry experience having worked within the maintenance environment for at least 5 years.
  3. Technical – The successful Trainer should have the appropriate technical knowledge, hold a B Licence and have completed a recognised apprenticeship. The successful candidate should also hold a QQI Train the Trainer course and have a strong knowledge of the regulations.
  4. Being comfortable challenging others - Knowing when to challenge an individual or group in a safe and contained manner consistent with contemporary L&D thinking.
  5. Resourcefulness - Being highly resourceful is key to success in this role.
  6. Being authentic – It is very important to be yourself. 
  7. Creativity –be creative in your delivery methods to obtain the best results and creating a safe environment for participants to learn and develop.
  8. Discretion & Confidentiality – The Technical Trainer must keep all employee data and sensitive data strictly confidential. 

Reporting and other relationships

  • The Technical Trainer reports directly to the General Manager Base Maintenance.
  • The CEO and other senior managers may make requests of the Technical Trainer.
  • The technical Trainer must work closely with the Safety and Compliance function.
  • Other significant relationships exist with Employees, Apprentices, Trainees, Graduates and Contractors.
