Materials/Procurement Specialist

To meet the increasing workload in the Base Maintenance Department, we have a vacancy for Materials Specialist who will report to the Check Leaders.


The role of the Materials Specialist is to provide on-site purchasing and logistics support to Base Maintenance for the procurement of consumables, rotables and delivery of same for aircraft to ensure the on time delivery of the aircraft. The role also requires the provision of daily reports to the Check Leader and customers and attendance at the daily meetings for the respective aircraft.


The key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure purchasing activity supports Aircraft turn time and advise Check Leader;
  • Ensure purchase orders are raised correctly;
  • Provide up to date status reports as required to the Check Leader and the Customer;
  • Place and expedite purchase orders;
  • Ensure goods in queries are cleared in a timely manner;
  • Analysis of materials usage and order for stock accordingly;
  • Ensure IT systems are used effectively and housekeeping maintained, e.g. close purchase orders;
  • Ensure timely clearance of order related problems, e.g. invoice queries, rejects etc;
  • Follow up on rotable orders and exchanges to ensure they are closed out;
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written;
  • Be able to pass a 5 year security background check;
  • Permitted to live and work in the Republic of Ireland without restriction.


Knowledge / Key skill requirements:

  • Preferably have a formal logistics/materials/procurement qualification:
  • Must have knowledge of inventory management and procurement process or the aptitude to quickly acquire those skills;
  • An appreciation of the importance of material supplies to the Dublin Aerospace operation;
  • Be a self starter, must possess an ability to work on their initiative;
  • Must demonstrate a proactive approach to achieving objectives;
  • Ability to work under pressure both in a team and alone;
  • Possess strong commercial acumen with an emphasis on negotiating;
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Competent PC skills (MS office, email & Vis Aer);
  • Flexible in their approach to work and an enthusiasm for accepting and implementing change;
